GET THAT CRAYON OFF THE WALL ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!

So, here you are at the crime scene, visibly shocked and fuming. The thing is, the crime scene is your home walls and the suspects are your children. Relax! Don’t panic. Before lawyering up and suing the poor fellas, just take a deep breath and hear us out.

If you have small children, it is most likely that your walls have been the canvas for their creations. You can’t really blame them, can you? After all, if you have your Facebook wall to play with, they have to improvise somehow. Sadly, your walls are the only walls they’ve got.

Most times, your children at home are carried away by their creative moments and for this they use the walls of the house as their sketchbook. However, this practice is normal and easier to eliminate than you think. In this article, we will show you some simple tips to help you easily remove crayon stains.

Cleaning Your Wall

Of course, prevention is always better than cure. It is important to explain to your children to keep their, uh, creativity off the walls (even though, between us, they’d probably still do the opposite).

Children simply don’t know that their behavior is wrong. As far as they are concerned, it is just another day in the fine arts class. Although this is a normal behavior in small creatives, the truth is that it is a practice that must be corrected for the sake of your home.

But the deed is done. The walls won’t clean themselves.

Coconut Oil

The properties of coconut oil are excellent for removing drawings made with crayons, as this liquid penetrates into the material without damaging the wall paint. Therefore, it has become one of our favorite tactics when removing crayon spots or other material.

To achieve this, moisten a paper towel or towel with coconut oil at room temperature. Simply rub on the stain until it disappears completely. Let the coconut oil act for approximately 3 minutes. Then, with the same wet cloth, remove the stain. Easy, right?

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is a corrosive element that works perfectly for removing crayon stains. Unlike coconut oil, this element can damage your wall paint a bit if you leave it on for a long time. So, be aware.

However, if this is your choice, simply put a little of this paste on a clean cloth and pass it on the surface. Rub slowly on the stain and then wipe it with a damp towel. Toothpaste is excellent if the affected walls are white or beige. But if they are dark in color, we do not recommend that you use this trick.

Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium Bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, can become your best friend. It is harmless, eco-friendly and easily acquired.  For this reason, it is one of the fundamental elements you can use to disinfect the house. And it not only eliminates bacteria, but also allows to clean the tiles and burners.

In addition, it is the big boss of complicated spots! If you want to remove stains caused by crayon, wine, or any other element, you should definitely opt for this tool.

In a bowl mix some baking soda with water. Take a sponge and wet it with the liquid. Just rotate gently on the paint stain and you will see it disappear little by little. You can also make use of an old toothbrush.

Mayonnaise

This one is not as effective as the others, but you can use it as well! Add a little mayonnaise on the crayon stain and with the help of a towel or sponge, rub in a circular shape until it disappears. Then, just clean the wall with soap and water.

Shaving Cream

This type of cream is very effective in removing stains from the wall. Like toothpaste, this element has corrosive components that helps remove that stain. However, if you leave it for more than 10 minutes, it is most likely that a yellow stain from the shaving cream will appear on your wall.

If this is your option, you should only add a little over the area and rub it carefully with an old toothbrush.

Alcohol

When talking about crayon spots, without a doubt, the best is alcohol. Not only does it make those unwelcome “creative manifestations” from your kids go away immediately, but it also helps you clean up the other defects of your house in general.

This is the perfect ally of mothers. Therefore, if you prefer this option, you have to moisten a cloth with alcohol and pass it on the surface. Then, with a dry cloth, remove the remains of alcohol to avoid the side effects of this element.

Hairdryer

The dryer works when the stain on the wall is wet. If you see that it is dry, this tactic will notwork.

Turn on the heat and pass the hot air over the crayon spots. Then with a damp towel the excess paint is removed. However, it will take time to leave, so be patient. The safest thing is that on the third attempt you can eliminate it completely.

There you have it!

Sure, your children have caused this mess. You might want to educate them by getting them involved. Err, about the coconut oil, you might want to be tempted to dab them with the cloth. We urge you to resist the temptation. Trust us, we are on your side!
